When did NLP start?

NLP was created in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler – a student of mathematics and Gestalt therapy, and John Grinder – a professor of linguistics at the University of California Santa Cruz. They started out by modeling results achieved by excellent communicators and therapists, including the hypnotherapist, Milton Erikson, the Gestalt therapist, Fritz Perls and the family therapist, Virginia Satir. Since the 1970’s many others have contributed to this field and NLP continues to grow and develop over thirty years on.
